Ask Your AI Assistant About Your SEO
The GrowSEB MCP server lets Claude, Cursor and other AI assistants read your projects, tracked rankings, site audits, saved keyword research, Search Console and Google Analytics, so they answer from your own data. It uses the same API key as the SEB API and only reads: it never spends from your SEB Wallet.
Create an API KeyThree Steps
API keys come with the Growth plan and up. A key reads one workspace, with your access to it.
- 1. Create a key in the app under Settings → API Keys, and copy it when it's shown: it can't be shown again.
- 2. Add the server to your assistant with the address
https://app.growseb.com/mcpand the key as a bearer token, as shown below for each assistant. - 3. Ask. The assistant lists your projects first, then reads what your question needs.
Connect Your Assistant
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP.
Claude Code
Run this once in a terminal, then ask Claude Code about your site.
claude mcp add --transport http growseb https://app.growseb.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"Claude on the web and in the desktop app
- Open Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, and everyone who uses it shares that one key.
- Enter the server URL
https://app.growseb.com/mcp. - For authentication choose No sign-in, then under Request headers add
authorizationwith the valueBearer YOUR_API_KEY(the word Bearer, a space, then the key). - Add it, then turn GrowSEB on in a chat from the + menu, under Connectors.
Anthropic is rolling request headers out to some organizations first. If the dialog has no Request headers section, use the desktop app's config file below, or Claude Code.
Claude desktop app, with its config file
This works on every plan. It needs Node.js 18 or later: in Claude open Settings → Developer → Edit Config, add the server to claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude. The key goes in env, as shown, because the app on Windows breaks arguments that contain spaces.

}Cursor
Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to .cursor/mcp.json in one project. To keep the key out of the file, set an environment variable and use Bearer ${env:GROWSEB_API_KEY} as the value.

}ChatGPT and the OpenAI API
The ChatGPT app connects to MCP servers that sign people in with OAuth or need no sign-in at all. It has no place for an API key, so it can't use the GrowSEB MCP server today. From your own code, the OpenAI Responses API can: pass the key as a header, with any model that supports MCP tools.
curl https://api.openai.com/v1/responses \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OPENAI_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{

}],
"input": "What are the top 10 site-audit issues on my site?"
}'Other assistants
Any client that connects to remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP and can send a header works the same way: the address https://app.growseb.com/mcp and the header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY.
What Your Assistant Can Read
Seven tools, all read-only: none changes your data, starts a crawl or a search, or spends from your SEB Wallet.
list_projects
The workspace's projects you can see, with their ids. Assistants call it first.
get_project
One project: how many keywords it tracks, its site health score and when it was last audited.
get_rankings
Tracked keywords (SEB Radar): the latest Google position, the change since the check before and the ranking URL, with up to 90 days of history.
get_site_audit
The latest completed site audit (SEB Sentinel): the health score and the issues to fix first, each with a recommendation and example URLs.
get_keyword_research
Keyword research saved from SEB Discover and Keyword Magic: search volume, difficulty, CPC and intent.
get_search_console
The project's Search Console: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position, with the top 25 queries and pages.
get_analytics
The project's Google Analytics 4 property: sessions, users, engagement and conversions, with the top traffic sources.
Questions It Answers From Your Data
The assistant picks the tools; you ask in your own words.
- “What are the top 10 site-audit issues on my site, and how do I fix each one?”
- “Which of my tracked keywords dropped since the last check, and which pages rank for them?”
- “Compare my Search Console clicks with my Google Analytics sessions over the last 28 days.”
- “From my saved keyword research, which low-difficulty keywords should I write about next?”
One Key, One Workspace
The MCP server and the SEB API share each key's requests a minute; over the limit, the server answers 429 until the minute is up.
| Plan | Requests a minute |
|---|---|
| Growth | 60 |
| Pro | 120 |
| Agency | 300 |
| Enterprise | 600 |
- A key reads one workspace with your access to it: an agency client's key sees only their own projects.
- Anyone who has the key can read that workspace's data. Keep it out of shared files and screenshots.
- Revoke a key in Settings → API Keys and it stops working at once, in every assistant that uses it.
What the MCP Server Doesn't Do Yet
It reads only. Starting an audit, adding keywords or drafting an article still happens in the app. Tell us what you'd want your assistant to do first.
